Wood-Burning Sauna Stoves

A wood stove gives you the sauna the practice was invented around: soft, dry heat, the smell of the fire and no dependence on a power supply. It is the right answer for an off-grid cabin and for anyone who wants the ritual to include lighting the fire.

Frequently asked questions

Does a wood-burning stove need a chimney?

Yes. Every wood stove needs a correctly sized flue with the clearances the manufacturer specifies, and in most jurisdictions that is inspected work. Budget for the chimney kit and the roof or wall penetration when you compare a wood stove against an electric heater.

Can a wood stove be used indoors?

It can, with a compliant flue and the specified clearances to combustibles. Most of the wood stoves we sell go into outdoor saunas, where the flue run is simpler.

How much wood does a session take?

Enough to bring the room up and hold it: that varies with the stove, the wood and the outside temperature, so treat any single number as marketing. Dry hardwood, split small, is what makes the difference.

How do I pay?

Card or bank transfer (ACH), both at checkout. Stripe handles the payment, so your card details never reach us. A transfer takes a day or two longer to clear, and on a large order it is the one we prefer.

Can you install it?

In the Bay Area, yes. Your Saunas is a licensed general contractor, CSLB #1150020, so the carpentry and the electrical are the same crew rather than two trades blaming each other. Further afield we ship and you bring your own installer. Call (707) 625-5555 before you order if you want the install quoted with the sauna.
