When a sauna stops heating, the whole room just sits there cold, and most companies that sold these units don't fix them. We do.
YOURSAUNAS is a licensed design-build company, and service is a real part of what we do: we diagnose and repair saunas across the Peninsula and the wider Bay Area (Atherton, Palo Alto, Los Altos, Menlo Park, Hillsborough, Saratoga, Marin), no matter who built it or which brand it is. Electric or wood-burning, kit or custom, ours or someone else's.
Because we do the general, electrical and HVAC work ourselves, we can do the one thing most resellers can't: actually open it up, test the wiring, and fix it, instead of selling you a part and sending you off to find your own electrician.

No heat, trips the breaker, or fires and quits. We test the heater, element, contactor and circuit and find the actual fault before we quote a fix.

What’s usually behind it
A sauna tends to tell you what's wrong, if you can read the signs. Here are the problems we're called for most, what's typically behind each, and what a fix involves. A proper diagnostic confirms which before anyone quotes a repair, so you're fixing what's actually wrong, not a guess.

It won’t heat at all
Usually a failed heating element, a tripped or faulty contactor, a dead control, or a fault on the 240V circuit. We test each in turn to find which; often it's one inexpensive part, not the whole heater.

It keeps tripping the breaker
A heater is a heavy 240V load, so a repeated trip points to a failing element, a ground fault, a GFCI at the end of its life, or an undersized circuit. It's a wiring-side diagnosis, and the part most sellers can't touch.

It heats, but never gets hot enough
Commonly an aging element losing output, crumbled or badly-laid stones choking airflow, weak ventilation, or a door and seals leaking heat. Often the cheapest fixes on the list, stones and seals, recover a lot of heat.

It won’t hold temperature
Typically a failing thermostat or sensor, a control that's drifting out of calibration, or a sensor placed or fouled so it misreads the room. We test, then re-calibrate or replace the control.

The door won’t seal, or the glass is foggy
Doors drift out of true over the years (sagging hinges, worn seals, a frame that's shifted), and heat leaks out. Re-hanging the door and replacing seals or glass usually brings it right back.

It smells musty or shows water damage
Moisture that isn't drying out, often weak ventilation, a failing exterior finish, or a leak. We trace it to the source, dry and seal it, and fix the venting so it doesn't come back.
Most of these come down to a single part, not a new sauna. The one exception worth respecting: anything on the 240V circuit isn't a DIY job: that's the side a licensed check exists for (our 240V guide explains why). And if a repair genuinely doesn't pencil out, we'll say so and talk replacement straight.

Here's what makes a sauna repair different from any other appliance: the heart of it is a high-draw 240V circuit. When the fault is in the wiring, the heater hookup or the GFCI, most companies that sell saunas hand you a part and tell you to "coordinate with your own electrician." That's two trades, two schedules, and nobody who owns the whole problem.

Yes. YOURSAUNAS repairs and services saunas of any brand across the Bay Area and Peninsula, including units another company installed. A licensed team diagnoses and fixes heaters, controls, sensors, doors, benches and ventilation, and re-does the 240V wiring where a repair needs it: one call, no chasing separate trades.
Do you fix a sauna another company installed?
Yes. That's most of what we do. It doesn't matter who built it, who sold it, or whether the original installer is still around. We service and repair saunas of every brand, kit or custom, indoor or outdoor. Because we're a licensed contractor, we can pick up a job another company walked away from and make it right, electrical included.
How does your diagnostic process work?
We come out for a flat diagnostic visit, listen to what it's doing, and test it properly: heater, element, contactor, controls, the 240V circuit, GFCI, venting and seals. You get a clear explanation of the actual fault and a fixed price to repair it before any work starts. The diagnostic fee credits toward the repair if you go ahead, so you're never paying twice.
Can you replace a burnt-out heater, element or stones?
Yes. A sauna that trips the breaker or won't get hot is usually a failed element, contactor or control: we test to confirm, then replace the part and verify it's drawing correctly and heating evenly. We also clear out old crumbled stones and re-lay them properly, which alone fixes a lot of "weak heat" complaints. If a full heater swap makes more sense than a repair, we'll tell you straight.
Can you repair a sauna door or fogged / cracked glass?
Yes. Sauna doors fall out of true over time: they sag, stick, or stop sealing, and heat and energy leak out. We re-hang doors, replace hinges, latches and blown seals, and swap foggy or cracked glass so the room shuts tight and holds its heat again.
Which sauna brands do you service?
Every brand. Electric or wood-burning, infrared or traditional, barrel, cabin or custom room: if it's a sauna, we service it. We don't tie ourselves to one manufacturer, so our only job on a service call is to get yours working, not to sell you a new unit.
The problem is in the wiring. Can you actually rewire it, or send me to an electrician?
We rewire it ourselves. Loose, undersized, scorched or non-code wiring, a failing GFCI, or a bad heater hookup is our scope, not a referral. This is the big difference from resellers, who have to send you off to "coordinate with your own electrician." With us it's one team, one visit.
Why won’t my sauna heater turn on or heat up?
It's usually one of a few things: a burnt-out heating element, a failed contactor, a dead or miscalibrated control, or a fault on the 240V circuit or GFCI. Any of them can leave you with a cold room, and they need different fixes, so the first step is a real diagnostic, not a parts guess. We test the heater, element, contactor, control and the circuit to find the actual fault, then quote the fix. Often it's a single inexpensive part.
Is it worth repairing an old sauna, or should I just replace it?
Usually it's worth repairing. Most "dead" saunas come down to one failed part (an element, a contactor, a control, or a wiring fault), and fixing that costs a fraction of a new unit. We diagnose first and tell you straight: if a repair makes sense, we do it; if the heater is truly at the end of its life, we'll say so and help you choose a replacement
that fits. We don't upsell a new sauna to dodge a repair.
