Who installs saunas on the Peninsula?
YOURSAUNAS does. We are a licensed California general contractor (CSLB #1150020) with one crew that frames, wires and finishes a sauna, so the carpentry, the 240V circuit and the ventilation come from the same people under one contract. This year we have worked in Atherton, San Mateo, Hillsborough, Menlo Park and Foster City, and quoted projects from South San Francisco to Woodside.
Peninsula work comes in every shape. Some of it is new: a kit assembled in a back yard, or a custom room. Some of it is about saunas that already exist, in homes where a sauna went in years ago and now needs a repair, a refinish, a part that is hard to find, or a proper circuit. We take both kinds of job, on saunas we built and on saunas we did not.

Quoted, not yet built: the rest of the Peninsula
We have priced sauna projects in Woodside, Palo Alto, Millbrae, San Bruno, South San Francisco and Pacifica. In Daly City we finished a two-person outdoor infrared sauna in March 2025. Those are quotes, not finished builds, and we will not tell you otherwise.
One county, three kinds of site
The Peninsula is not one climate or one kind of lot, and a sauna is planned for the part you are in.
The coast side. Pacifica and the western edge of Daly City sit in the fog, with salt in the air. An outdoor sauna there needs weather-grade cladding, sealed wood, corrosion-resistant hardware and a base that keeps it off damp ground.
The bayside towns. San Mateo, Foster City, Millbrae, San Bruno and South San Francisco are mostly built-out neighborhoods of houses, townhomes and condos. Outdoor saunas here tend to go on a patio or a deck, and indoor ones into a garage, a spare room or a large bathroom. In a condo or townhome the association usually has to approve the work first; see our condo and HOA guide.
The hills and the large lots. Hillsborough, Atherton and Woodside have big properties where the sauna often sits well away from the house. That is good for privacy and calls for planning: a longer circuit from the main panel, a trench or a route for it, and a way to get materials to the spot.
Permits on the Peninsula
Each Peninsula city runs its own building department and its own rules. The constant is the wiring: a new 240V circuit for a sauna needs an electrical permit. Whether the structure needs a building permit depends on its size, whether it is attached and where it sits on the lot. We confirm the specifics with your city before we start, and we file the permits our work needs. The San Mateo, Hillsborough and Atherton pages say what each city's own website told us; the Bay Area permit guide has the general rules.

Peninsula sauna FAQ
Peninsula questions, straight answers.
Which Peninsula towns have you actually worked in?
Atherton, San Mateo, Hillsborough, Menlo Park, Foster City and Daly City, from 2025 to 2026; each finished one is on our projects page. We have quoted in Woodside, Palo Alto, Millbrae, San Bruno, South San Francisco and Pacifica.
Can you fix a sauna someone else installed?
Yes. Some of our Peninsula work is on existing saunas, like the lighting repair and refinish in Atherton. Service and repair starts from $380.
Do you cover Palo Alto and Menlo Park?
Yes. We have a prefab assembly booked in Menlo Park for October 2026 and have quoted in Palo Alto; Palo Alto also sits on our South Bay page.
Our sauna would be far from the house. Is that a problem?
No, but it is a bigger electrical job. A long run from the main panel needs a route, sometimes a trench, and wire sized for the distance; we look at it on the site visit and price it in writing.
