Who builds saunas in Marin County?

YOURSAUNAS does, from a base in Mill Valley. We are a licensed California general contractor (CSLB license #1150020, Class B), and one founder-led crew handles the whole job: the framing, the 240V circuit, the ventilation, the heater and the finish carpentry. You talk to Vadim, the owner, and the people who measure your space are the people who build it.

Being based here means a site visit is a short drive, and when a sauna we built needs a tune-up later, we are close by.

We build custom indoor rooms, outdoor cabins and backyard wellness zones, assemble prefab kits from any brand, and repair saunas someone else installed.

Recent work

What we have done in Marin

From our own invoices.

  1. 01

Mill Valley: sauna floor and 240V circuit, June 2026

We built a 5'3" x 5'3" floor platform for a sauna and ran a dedicated 240V circuit to power it. More about our Mill Valley work.

  2. 02

Sausalito: inspection and a replacement control panel, June 2026

A full inspection of an existing sauna, then a new control panel for a Finnleo/TyloHelo Pure 2.0, a discontinued model, which we sourced and fitted. More about Sausalito.

Marin towns we serve

We work across the whole county. To be plain about the record: we have completed projects in Mill Valley, Sausalito, Tiburon, Greenbrae and Novato, and quoted projects in the other towns below. Every finished one is on our projects page with its own photographs.

  1. 01

Southern Marin: Mill Valley, Sausalito, Tiburon, Belvedere

Our home stretch. Projects completed in Mill Valley, Sausalito and Tiburon, where we assembled a six-person Golden Designs Bergen in July 2025; projects quoted in Belvedere. Hillside homes and stairs from the street shape where a sauna can go.

  2. 02

Central Marin and the Ross Valley: Corte Madera, Larkspur, Kentfield, Greenbrae, San Anselmo

A Finnleo NSO 56 with a cold plunge finished in Greenbrae in January 2026; projects quoted in the other towns. Flatter lots near the bay give way to shaded, wooded canyons up the valley, so the right foundation and finish change from street to street.

  3. 03

    Northern Marin: Novato

An Almost Heaven Morgan barrel sauna finished in Novato in August 2025. Lots there often run larger and there may be room for an outdoor sauna or a full wellness zone.

  4. 04

    West Marin coast: Stinson Beach

Projects quoted in Stinson Beach. Coastal fog and salt air are the main design inputs there: exterior wood, hardware and finishes have to be chosen for them from the start.

What Marin asks of a sauna

Marin is fog belt, redwood shade and hillside lots. Shaded yards stay damp, so an outdoor cabin should sit off the ground, shed water and dry out between uses. Hillside sites often need a built platform rather than a simple pad. Near the water, salt air calls for corrosion-resistant hardware and a maintained finish. On wooded lots, how close a wood structure sits to the house and trees is part of the permit conversation.

Many Marin homes are older, and an older panel may have little spare capacity for a sauna heater. We check it on the first visit.

Sauna permits across Marin

Marin has many separate building departments: each incorporated town runs its own, and the unincorporated communities, such as Kentfield, Greenbrae and Stinson Beach, go through the County of Marin. The rule that holds everywhere is the same: a new 240V circuit needs an electrical permit, and whether the sauna structure needs a building permit depends on its size, whether it is attached, and where it sits on the lot. We confirm the specifics with your town's building department before we start, file the permits, and meet the inspector. The general picture is in our Bay Area sauna permit guide.

Marin County sauna FAQ

Marin questions, straight answers.

Is there a sauna builder based in Marin?

Yes. YOURSAUNAS is based in Mill Valley and works across Marin County. We are a licensed general contractor, and the same crew designs, builds and wires each sauna.

Have you built in my Marin town?

We have completed projects in Mill Valley, Sausalito, Tiburon, Greenbrae and Novato, and quoted projects in Belvedere, Corte Madera, Larkspur, Kentfield, San Anselmo and Stinson Beach. If your town is not on that list, call anyway: the county is our home ground.

My yard is shaded and damp most of the year. Can it still take an outdoor sauna?

Usually, yes: lift the cabin off the ground, let it shed water and dry, and choose wood and hardware for a damp site. See our outdoor site-prep guide.

Who handles the permit in Marin, the town or the county?

It depends on your address. Incorporated towns such as Mill Valley, Sausalito and Novato run their own building departments; unincorporated areas such as Kentfield and Stinson Beach go through the County of Marin. We work out which one applies and file with them.
