Who builds and installs saunas in the East Bay?
YOURSAUNAS does: a licensed California general contractor (CSLB #1150020, Class B), based in Mill Valley and working across the bridge in Oakland, Berkeley, Albany, Emeryville, Orinda, Lafayette and Danville. The same crew handles the carpentry, the ventilation and the 240V circuit, so a sauna project here is one job with one phone number, not a builder, an electrician and a permit runner you coordinate yourself.
The work comes in three shapes: a kit that needs assembling and wiring, a custom room or cabin designed for the house, and an existing sauna that has stopped heating, needs a new heater or has to move. The jobs below include examples of the first and the last.
Recent work
What we have done in the East Bay
Every project here is from our own invoices and job records, by town. No client names, no addresses.
- 01
Oakland: two saunas, one indoor, one outdoor
In June 2026 we assembled and installed a Finnleo Euro sauna, 4 x 6 ft. We also assembled an Auroom Mira L outdoor sauna in an Oakland backyard, installed its heater and treated the interior. More on the Oakland page.
- 02
Berkeley, Albany and Emeryville: moving, checking and re-heating
In Berkeley, July 2026, we took an existing sauna fully apart and rebuilt it at its new location with a new 240V connection (Berkeley page). In Albany, June 2026, a full sauna inspection. In Emeryville, June 2026, an inspection, removal of the old equipment and a new 14.4 kW heater installed.
- 03
Lafayette and Orinda: a cold plunge, and sauna work
In Lafayette, July 2026, we delivered and installed a round cold plunge tub (Lafayette page). In Orinda we invoiced sauna work in 2026.
- 04
Danville and Pleasanton: power first, a prefab on the calendar
In Danville we ran a 240V electrical connection for a sauna in June 2026, and a prefab sauna installation is scheduled for October 2026 (Danville page). A Pleasanton client has reviewed us on Google.
Finished projects in Kensington (a Finnleo NorthStar 57, April 2025), El Cerrito (a Finnleo Euro, October 2025), Moraga (an Auroom Mida L, January 2026) and Alameda (a NorthStar 57 on a new slab with a 200A service upgrade, September 2025, and a storage room turned into a cedar sauna, February 2026) are on our projects page with their photographs.
East Bay towns we have quoted
Beyond the towns above, we have priced projects in these places. A quote is not a finished build, so we list them separately:
- Lamorinda and central Contra Costa: Walnut Creek, Clayton
- South county and the Tri-Valley: Hayward, Castro Valley, Livermore
- East county: Brentwood, Antioch
In one of these towns, or one we have not named? Tell us what you are planning and we will say plainly whether we take it on.
One region, very different back yards
The East Bay is not one climate. Close to the bay, Oakland, Berkeley and Albany get the marine air and fog that come through the Golden Gate, so an outdoor sauna there is built to shed damp. Past the hills, Orinda, Lafayette and Danville run warm and dry in summer and cool in winter, which asks more of exterior finishes and less of moisture control. Hillside lots appear on both sides of the ridge, and a sloped site changes what goes under the sauna. Our outdoor site prep guide covers the base options.
Sauna permits in East Bay cities
The rule that holds everywhere: a new 240V circuit needs an electrical permit. Whether the structure itself needs a building permit depends on its size and placement, and each city decides. Three we checked on the cities' own sites:
In Oakland, the Bureau of Building, part of the Planning and Building Department, oversees the permit process for construction in the city, and its One-Stop Permit Center offers in-person and online services.
Berkeley's Permit Service Center describes itself as a one-stop shop for building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire and some public works permits, and applications and inspection requests can go through Permits Online.
Danville's Permit Center lists projects that involve electrical work among those that need a permit, and takes applications through its Online Permit Center Portal.
Elsewhere we confirm the path with that city's building department before work starts. The Bay Area permit guide explains the two permits people mix up.

East Bay sauna FAQ
East Bay questions, straight answers.
Do you really come out to the East Bay from Marin?
Yes. We have worked in Oakland, Berkeley, Albany, Emeryville, Orinda, Lafayette and Danville, and we quote further out case by case. The site visit is how we plan the job, wherever it is.
Which East Bay projects do you take on?
All six of our services: prefab assembly, custom indoor and outdoor saunas, backyard wellness zones, equipment installation and service and repair. Our East Bay jobs so far have included kit assembly, a relocation, a heater replacement, a cold plunge and inspections.
Is a sauna built differently in Oakland than in Danville?
The room is the same; the outside is not. Near the bay we plan for damp air and fog, inland we plan for summer heat and sun on the exterior. The base depends on the lot, not the town.
Can you fix a sauna another company installed?
Yes. The Albany and Emeryville jobs were exactly that: an inspection, and in Emeryville new equipment and a 14.4 kW heater in an existing room. Service starts from $380.

In their own words
Our clients in the East Bay, on Google.
“I had pre-purchased my Harvia heater, but I wish I had purchased it after consulting with him because I would have likely selected a more robust heater to promote a quicker heat up.”
Marnie C., Alameda · Google review
“After the installation was done, they came back to walk me through how to use the sauna and how to care for it long term.”
Filippo D., Oakland · Google review
“They paid attention to every detail, never cut corners, and consistently took the time to do things the right way.”
