Sauna builder in Mill Valley
Mill Valley is where YOURSAUNAS is based: a licensed sauna builder in southern Marin County that designs, builds, wires and services saunas for the town we work out of.
Is there a sauna builder in Mill Valley?
Yes. YOURSAUNAS is based in Mill Valley, 94941, and builds saunas here and across Marin County. We are a licensed California general contractor (CSLB license #1150020, Class B), and one founder-led crew does the carpentry, the 240V wiring and the ventilation in-house. Vadim, the owner, is the person you talk to from the first call to the final walkthrough.
You may know us by our earlier name, YOURSPACE. Same business, same owner, same phone number.
For a Mill Valley homeowner, a builder in town means an easy site visit, and a builder still nearby when the sauna needs a heater element or a door adjusted later on.

Sauna floor platform and 240V circuit, June 2026
We built a 5'3" x 5'3" floor platform for a sauna and ran a dedicated 240V circuit to power it. The base and the circuit are the two parts of a sauna that are hardest to fix once the walls are up, so they come first.

Building a sauna in a Mill Valley home
Mill Valley is a town of redwood canyons and steep, wooded hillsides, and that shapes almost every sauna conversation here.
Shade and damp. Many yards under the redwoods see little sun and stay damp through the wet season. An outdoor sauna there should sit off the ground with airflow underneath and be finished for a damp site. Often the better answer is indoors: a spare room, a garage bay or a lower level turned into a custom indoor sauna, with the heat and the ventilation designed for the room.
Slopes and stairs. Many Mill Valley houses sit above or below the street, with steps in between. That decides where a cabin can go, whether it needs a built platform, and how materials get on site.
Older electrical panels. A sauna needs a dedicated 240V circuit, and an older Mill Valley panel may not have room for it. We check capacity at the site visit; a subpanel or replacement becomes part of the same job.
Sauna permits in Mill Valley
A new 240V circuit needs an electrical permit, and whether the sauna structure itself needs a building permit depends on its size, whether it is attached, and where it sits on your lot. In Mill Valley those permits go through the City of Mill Valley's Building Division, which takes applications from registered contractors and professionals through its online eTRAKiT system.
The city says plainly that most work exempt from a permit is "of a cosmetic nature only", and a sauna with its own circuit is not cosmetic. If your panel needs replacing or a subpanel added for the heater, Mill Valley lists those among the electrical permits it issues on application after an administrative review.
We confirm the exact scope with the Building Division before we start, file the permits, and meet the inspector. More in our Bay Area permit guide and our 240V electrical guide.

Mill Valley sauna FAQ
Mill Valley questions, straight answers.
Are you actually based in Mill Valley?
Yes. Our business address of record is in Mill Valley, and Mill Valley is where our day starts. You will meet the owner, not a sales rep.
My lot is steep and mostly shaded. Should the sauna go inside or outside?
Often inside, on a lot like that. An indoor room avoids the damp, the drainage and the stair carry, and it can usually reuse space you already have. If you want it outdoors, we design the base and finish for the site. Our indoor vs outdoor guide walks through the trade-offs.
Can my older Mill Valley house’s panel run a sauna heater?
Sometimes as it is, sometimes with a subpanel or a panel upgrade. We check the panel's capacity at the site visit and include any panel work in the same quote, so there is no separate electrician to find.
Who files the permit in Mill Valley?
We do. The City of Mill Valley's Building Division takes contractor applications online through eTRAKiT, and as a licensed general contractor we file, track the inspections and meet the inspector.
Do you build the platform or base under a sauna kit?
Yes. In June 2026 in Mill Valley we built a 5'3" x 5'3" floor platform for a sauna and ran its dedicated 240V circuit. We can do the base and the power on their own, or the base, the power and the kit assembly as one job.
