A sauna that works for a building, not one household
A commercial sauna is the same hot room as a home one, used by far more people for far more hours. That changes what it needs: a heater its maker rates for commercial use, controls that staff can run without a manual, a floor and benches that come apart for cleaning, and a team that answers when it stops heating on a busy morning.
We build and service saunas for hotels, resorts, gyms, spas and the shared amenity floors of multi-unit buildings across the Bay Area. Two of those jobs are on this site: a resort hotel's sauna in Sonoma, refreshed and repaired, and a shared building's sauna in Emeryville, inspected top to bottom and given a new commercial heater.
The same team that frames and finishes the room runs the circuit, sizes and wires the heater and sets the controls, so a property manager has one contract and one number to call, not a carpenter, an electrician and a heater dealer to coordinate.
What we do · commercial
New rooms, refreshes, heater upgrades and service.
- 01
New commercial sauna rooms
Designed to the space and to how it will be used: how many people at once, how many hours a day, who cleans it and when. Framing, insulation and vapor barrier, cedar or spruce interior, benches built to the room, ventilation, the heater and its controls, all by one team, with the permits pulled under our license.
- 02
Refresh of an existing room
The work we did at the Sonoma resort hotel: the old floor covering out, a new removable floor in that lifts for service and cleaning, the existing benches sanded and refinished, and the heater serviced and repaired. A tired room becomes a usable one without a rebuild.
- 03
Heater and control upgrades
The work we did in Emeryville: a full inspection of the equipment and the cabin, the old heater and control panel removed, an Amerec Laava 14.4 kW commercial heater installed with new control panels and a Wi-Fi module, then the stones loaded, the heater calibrated and the whole room tested.
- 04
Sizing for larger rooms
We size every heater by two rules and show both: the maker's, which counts the room's volume and its glass, and our own table. Our table runs to 1,600 cubic feet, where it calls for 18 to 20 kW; a commercial room larger than that is sized from the manufacturer's chart, and the heater is one its maker rates for the use. The method is in our heater sizing guide.
- 05
Power to match the building
A commercial building's electrical service is not always a house's, and a heater is built for one supply. We read the building's panel and service before the heater is ordered, so the unit that arrives is one the building can run, and our own team runs the dedicated circuit, the GFCI protection and the disconnect, under an electrical permit.
- 06
Service and repair
Heaters that will not fire or hold temperature, controls that have failed, doors out of true, benches and floors worn by heavy use. We service any brand, and the rooms we built we know from the inside. See service and repair.
The moat
One team, start to finish, and after.
Most commercial sauna work is split between a builder, an electrician and whoever sold the heater, and when the room stops heating each of them points at the next. We don't work that way.
YOURSAUNAS is a licensed general contractor, so the room, the circuit, the heater, the controls and the ventilation are built and stood behind by one accountable team, under one set of permits. The heater is test-fired by the same people who wired it, and the staff who will run the room are shown the controls before we leave.

Commercial FAQ
Good questions, straight answers.
Yes. YOURSAUNAS builds, upgrades and services commercial saunas for hotels, gyms, spas and multi-unit buildings across the Bay Area, with the framing, the electrical, the heater and the ventilation done by one licensed team.
Do you build saunas for hotels, gyms and apartment buildings?
Yes. A commercial room is planned around its use: how many people, how many hours a day, how it is cleaned. We have refreshed a resort hotel's sauna in Sonoma and upgraded a shared building's heater in Emeryville; both jobs are on this site with our own photographs.
Can you upgrade the heater in an existing commercial sauna?
Yes, and it is often the fastest fix for a room that never gets hot enough. We inspect the room and the equipment, size a replacement by both rules, check that the building's power can carry it, then remove the old unit, install and wire the new one with its controls, load the stones and test the room. In Emeryville that was an Amerec Laava 14.4 kW commercial heater with new control panels and Wi-Fi.
What size heater does a large commercial room need?
It depends on the room's volume and its glass. We run the maker's rule and our own table side by side and tell you both. Our table goes up to 1,600 cubic feet; past that we size from the manufacturer's chart. A room in use all day also needs a heater rated for that use, which narrows the choice before size does.
Do you pull the permits for commercial work?
Yes, as on every job: we pull the permits under our license and carry the inspections. A shared building often adds rules of its own, such as a property manager's approval, working hours and access, and we plan around them before the first day on site.
Can you keep an existing commercial sauna running?
Yes. We service any brand: heaters, controls, doors, benches and floors. The Sonoma job was exactly that, a refresh and repair rather than a new room. Call with the make and model of the heater and what it is doing, and we will tell you what the visit needs.
What warranty comes with commercial work?
Our standard terms give a 1-year limited warranty on workmanship from the date of project completion. Manufactured components, including sauna heaters, controls, doors and equipment, are covered by their respective manufacturers' warranties. The terms are in the contract before work starts.
