Cold plunge installation
A cold plunge on its own: placed, set level, wired for its chiller and plumbed to drain, by one team.
- Licensed general contractor
- Chiller circuit wired in-house
- Fill and drain on one plan
Cold, steps from wherever you need it
Not everyone wants a whole backyard project. Some people already have a sauna and want the cold half of the ritual; some want a plunge after training and nothing else. This page is for that: one plunge, installed properly, without the sauna, the shower and the deck of a wellness zone.
A plunge looks like a tub you set down and fill. It is not quite. Water is heavy, so it needs a base that is level and built to carry it. The chiller that keeps it cold needs its own circuit, protected for a wet location. The tub needs a way to fill and a way to drain that does not mean a hose across the lawn. And it needs to sit where the cold is a few steps from the heat, if there is heat.
We do all of that as one job. The same team that places the tub runs the chiller's circuit, and the fill and drain are run and coordinated under our GC scope, so you are not lining up an electrician and a plumber around a tub on a pallet.
What’s included · the plunge
Placed, powered, plumbed and filled.

Placement
Where the plunge goes decides how often you use it: close to the sauna door or the back door, out of the afternoon sun if the chiller is to have an easy life, with room to step in and out. We walk the space with you and look at power, water and drainage before choosing the spot.

A base that carries it
A level, drained base under the tub, because a filled plunge is heavy and needs real support: a pad or a footing on soil, or a check of the structure if it is going on a deck. A tub that sits out of level never fills evenly.
- 03
The chiller circuit
A dedicated circuit for the chiller, GFCI-protected, with sealed, exterior-rated wiring, run by our own team under an electrical permit. On the Greenbrae job, a sauna with a plunge beside it, the plunge was wired and ready on a job that ran 240V and 120V circuits with a breaker, junction box and disconnect.
- 04
Fill, drain and filtration
The fill, the drain and the filtration loop, run and coordinated under our GC scope on one plan, so the water stays clean without constant draining and changing it is a valve, not an afternoon.
- 05
Commissioning
We fill the plunge, bring the chiller down to your set temperature, check the circulation and the filter, and show you the controls and the care routine. On the plunge we put in beside a sauna in San Francisco, that meant installed and tested before we left.
Cold plunge or wellness zone
A plunge on its own, or the whole ritual.
This page is the plunge alone. If you want the sauna, the plunge, an outdoor shower and the deck designed as one project, that is a backyard wellness zone, our most involved build. If you have a sauna and want the plunge beside it, this is the shorter job, and two of the saunas on this site already have one: Greenbrae and San Francisco.
The moat
One team, for the tub and everything behind it.
A plunge arrives on a pallet, and the base, the circuit and the drain are left to whoever bought it. Most sellers stop at the delivery. We don't: YOURSAUNAS is a licensed general contractor, so the base, the circuit, the plumbing and the commissioning are built and stood behind by one accountable team, under one set of permits.
Cold plunge FAQ
Good questions, straight answers.
Yes. YOURSAUNAS installs cold plunge tubs on their own or beside an existing sauna across the Bay Area: the base, the chiller's dedicated circuit, the fill, drain and filtration, and the commissioning, all by one licensed team.
Can you install a cold plunge without building a sauna?
Yes. That is what this service is. We place the plunge, build or check its base, wire its chiller and plumb its fill and drain. If you later want a sauna beside it, we build that too.
How cold does a cold plunge get?
The chiller holds the temperature you set, typically in the 40s°F, with filtration and circulation keeping the water clean. We size the chiller to the plunge and to where it sits, and wire it on its own circuit.
Does a cold plunge need its own electrical circuit?
The chiller does: a dedicated, GFCI-protected circuit with exterior-rated wiring outdoors. Our own team runs it, under an electrical permit, as part of the job. No outside electrician to schedule.
Where should the plunge go?
A few steps from the heat if you have a sauna, out of strong afternoon sun so the chiller works less, on ground or a structure that can carry a filled tub, and with power and a drain within reach. We look at all of it on the site visit.
Can the plunge go on a deck?
Sometimes. A filled plunge is heavy, so we check the deck's structure before saying yes, and add support or choose another spot if it needs it. On the ground, it gets a level, drained base of its own.
What warranty comes with the installation?
Our standard terms give a 1-year limited warranty on workmanship from the date of project completion: the base, the circuit and the plumbing we ran. The tub and its chiller are manufactured equipment and carry their makers' terms. Manufactured components, including sauna heaters, controls, doors and equipment, are covered by their respective manufacturers' warranties.
